Summary:
This appendix reports the results of water quality studies that were part of the San Joaquin Valley Drainage Investigation. The area of investigation comprises the entire eight million acres of California's San Joaquin Valley. The present and future quality characteristics of the agricultural waste water of the San Joaquin Master Drain were determined through utilization and evaluation of two major studies: theoretical salt routing and monitoring of existing drain waters. These two studies enabled the department to estimate the quality of water in the Master Drain from 1970 to the year 2020. Excluding nitrogen, it appears that there will be a negligible impact on the receiving water due to the discharge of the drainage facilities into the San Joaquin River near Antioch Bridge. Includes data on nutrients, dissolved oxygen, and biochemical oxygen demands.
